When Steve Jobs announced the iPad on Jan. 27, 2010 at an Apple press conference in San Francisco, no one could have foreseen the tablet's many varied uses over the next five years

Marking the anniversary of the iPad going on sale on April 3, 2010, we're taking a look at some of the more surprising ways people have used the device since it launched.

1. By a famous concert pianist

In 2010, Chinese concert pianist Lang Lang delighted the audience at Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco by using an iPad in his performance. Returning to the stage after calls for an encore, Lang Lang produced the iPad, loaded up the "Magic Piano" app and broke into a rendition of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's Flight of the Bumblebee.
