PASCO, Washington — Vinicio Marin spent years saving money to start a small restaurant of his own and now, three months after Vinny's Bakery and Cafe opened its doors, a fatal shooting has put his dream in danger of becoming just a footnote in Pasco's history
Marin glanced around his cafe on Sunday, taking in the stacks of fritters, croissants and bread, while shaking his head. All this food, he said, and no one's coming to eat it anymore
On Feb. 10, Antonio Zambrano-Montes, a regular Vinny's customer, was confronted by three police officers as he was allegedly throwing rocks at cars at the intersection next to the cafe. Zambrano-Montes also allegedly tossed rocks at the officers, before running across the street. As he fled alongside the VInny's, police pursued him.
